In recognition of its ongoing community support, Ooredoo has received the prestigious Sultan Qaboos Award for Voluntary Work. The winners were announced a ceremony held at the Grand Millenium Hotel. In its sixth year, the award recognises companies, associations and individuals whose social development projects have the biggest positive impact on the community, and inspire a culture of volunteerism.

Feras bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, Consumer Director at Ooredoo said, “Our mission is not only to enrich our customers’ digital lives, but to enrich the everyday lives of people all across Oman. This is a very special award for us, and it reinforces our efforts to fulfil His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s vision for the community. It also demonstrates the important role of the private sector in social development and how much capacity we have to do good and make a lasting difference. With our ongoing sustainable initiatives across many sectors, we are delivering on our message of ‘caring’ and translating it into reality.”

Ooredoo was named among the winners for the “Companies” category, thanks to a long-standing and active CSR programme that is centred around its “Goodwill” platform. Ooredoo Goodwill includes a wide range of initiatives including partnerships with various charities, providing basic educational materials, providing sustainable support to communities, youth development, training and employment, environmental initiatives, and supporting SME’s and entrepreneurs. By working alongside voluntary organisations, the government, and non-government organisations (NGOs), Ooredoo makes good on its promise to make people’s lives better.
