Continuously empowering the youth, as gold sponsors, Ooredoo recently sponsored the Tawasul Theatre Group Ramadan Football Tournament, held at the Middle East College in Muscat. Bringing together several local theatre groups for the first staging of the tournament since 2019, 10 teams competed over two days to determine a winner.

After a series of closely-fought competitive matches, the two remaining teams advanced to the final. The Al Dan group narrowly edged out Al Bun 1-0 in a very hotly-contested match to win the trophy. The event was attended by guest of honour, H.E. Basil Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sport and Youth, and Ahmed Diwan, Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo.

Oman has a strong affection for football and the tournament gave talented young Omanis the opportunity to enjoy playing a sport so important to so many. As gold sponsors of the event, the company continues to support a variety of community football activities countrywide.

Following the tournament, a team from different departments at Ooredoo played a friendly match against local Social Media Influencers, including Mohammed Al Araimi, Mohammed Al Noufli, Ibrahim Al Kindi (known as Ibrahimo), Majeed & Baco, Sultan Sailor and Salim Al Rawahi. In the end, Ooredoo won 2-1 in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out.

Ooredoo will continue to support football in Oman by hosting official Fan Parks during the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup kicking off on 21 November 2022 so that fans can enjoy all the action live on big outdoor screens and experience the atmosphere of a month-long festival of football.
