Ooredoo marked the United Nation’s International Day for Older Persons on 1 October with a special visit to the Social Care House in Rustaq. Members of Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team visited the home, which is under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Development, meeting with elderly residents, as well as presenting them with medical beds, wheelchairs and other personalised gifts. The initiative is the latest in Ooredoo’s CSR efforts, which seek to enhance partnerships between government and private institutions, promote initiatives in the care fields, while inspiring a spirit of volunteerism.

Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Branding, Communications and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said, “As well as being a reminder of our capacity to do good, our visit to the Social Care House serves as a testament to Ooredoo’s place in the heart of the community and the wonderful culture of giving that runs throughout the company. We all have a responsibility to take care of the most vulnerable members of our community and we were glad to once again work with the Ministry of Social Development to be able to channel our help where it is needed most.”

Thorough its award-winning CSR programme, Goodwill, Ooredoo continues to work in collaboration with a variety of charitable associations and government organisations to support the economic and social development of all society members. From building sensory rooms for children with disabilities to donating digital devices to schools, providing various medical supplies to a number of hospitals during COVID-19, launching special SMS charitable donation services, and much more, Ooredoo is making good on its promise to make people’s lives better.

Mustafa Al Rajaibi, Head of the Social Care House in Rustaq, added, “As the only such institution in the Sultanate that accommodates elderly and disabled people from various governates who have no breadwinner among their relatives able take care of them, we do our utmost to provide them with everything they need, while ensuring they have a happy and fulfilling life. We are grateful for Ooredoo’s visit, not only for their kind donations but also for raising awareness and reminding us that we can all play a part in their care.”
