Ooredoo Joins Ministry of Social Development to Provide Students with Laptops for Remote Learning - Ooredoo Oman

As part of its commitment to ‘caring’, which is one of its core values, Ooredoo, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, has donated a number of laptop vouchers to underprivileged students. In the challenging times faced during the pandemic, the laptops will give students access to everything they need for remote learning. This is just the latest in a string of initiatives Ooredoo has carried out under its CSR programme, ‘Ooredoo Goodwill’, to support the community and creative a positive and lasting impact on society, especially as it tackles the pandemic.

Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Branding, Communications and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said, “We feel that collaboration between the public and private sectors is important, to make sure learning is not disrupted by COVID-19. By joining hands with the Ministry of Social Development, we are doing our part to secure our young peoples’ future, while helping them to overcome some of the challenges of learning off-site.”

Ooredoo has launched several offers and initiatives to facilitate the digital lives of its customers as they commit to staying at home, while supporting the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic. In addition to providing various medical supplies to a number of hospitals, Ooredoo cooperated with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Ministry of Education to provide free access to educational websites and internet communication applications to ensure business and education continuity in the Sultanate during this period. The company has also extended its support to students returning from abroad, providing them with SIM cards so they could stay in touch with their families during their isolation period.
