Over 12,000 runners of all ages, fitness levels and experiences came together for the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon over the weekend of 26-27 January. Ooredoo was proud to support the event as official race category sponsor for the 21.1km distance; officially named the “Ooredoo Half Marathon”. It was an epic race which showcased the dedication of professional and amateur athletes from across the country.
The route took the athletes through the streets of Al Mouj Muscat and down the length of 18th November St. alongside Al Mouj Golf before turning and heading back towards the main entrance of Al Mouj Muscat and on to the finishing line. Medals were presented to all finishers to commemorate their achievements, and prizes were awarded to the top three runners.
Also taking place over the weekend was the full marathon, 10km and 5km runs, as well as Kids’ Runs of 1km, 2km and 3km which encouraged young runners to become more active all year round. As well as the thousands of runners taking part across all distances, the race village attracted families and friends to support the athletes and enjoy live music, on-stage entertainment and sports entertainment displays. The dedicated Ooredoo tent hosted a number of fun challenges and entertainment and several fun activities across the village created an amazing atmosphere as the crowds cheered on the runners and enjoyed everything on offer all weekend.
