‘Ooredoo Goodwill’ recently organised an Omani Teacher’s Day competition with the participation of its incubators representing 10 Omani Women’s Association branches from across the Sultanate. Incubators were asked to showcase the most prettily wrapped gifts that can be presented to teachers on the day that recognises their role in educating and empowering future generations. The initiative aimed at engaging local communities, while promoting home-grown products and services.

Rahma Al Nufali, Head of the Omani Women Association in Mussannah and winner of the competition, said, “This was a great initiative and we would like to thank Ooredoo for its continuous support and contributions towards capacity building specifically for women across our communities. The Ooredoo Goodwill incubator at the Omani Women’s Association in Mussannah is a prime example when it comes to empowering women to generate income and providing them with rewarding entrepreneurial opportunities. This unique competition has been a fantastic platform for the graduates of the programme to promote their products, expand their reach and sales, but above all unlock their full potential. They were successful in preparing gifts to celebrate all women teachers in the Wilayat.”

Teachers’ gifts were distributed to 49 schools, nine nurseries across the Sultanate, staff at Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers and retired teachers from Wilayat Al Awabi. The competition also saw the participation of a Finnish student delegation that was visiting Oman during that period. As part of ‘Ooredoo Goodwill’, the company’s corporate social responsibility platform, more than 3000 women have received training to gain a multitude of skillsets enabling them to find new sources of income. As a result, over 200 women started their own journey as up-and-coming entrepreneurs in Oman.
