Ooredoo and Huawei recently held a technology summit to discuss 5G and other innovative technologies. The Sultanate’s data experience leaders, have teamed up with pioneering tech company, Huawei, to make sure customers have access to the latest technologies and enjoy a great network experience.

The telecoms company launched its first 5G plans earlier this year, opening up a new digital world to smartphone users, homes, and businesses. Despite launching in the midst of the pandemic, and facing a number of deployment challenges during the lockdown, Ooredoo’s 5G Supernet roll-out plans continue at a pace. Once connected, customers will be able to enjoy the internet with 10 times faster speeds and super low latency, and Ooredoo’s range of great value plans for work, socialising or entertainment.

“Our commitment to lead the Sultanate’s digital transformation remains at the forefront of our strategy and we will continue to invest in upgrading our network to give our customers an amazing experience” said Ahmed Abdullah Al Abri, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Ooredoo. “Since the emergence of COVID-19, customer behaviours have been dramatically altered, moving to online working, studying, TV streaming and gaming from home. Because of this, customers need better speeds, better latency and more quota. With our 5G roll-out, we’ll be significantly enhancing the experience for our customers.”

Wangsu, VP of Marketing for Huawei Middle East, added “5G is ushering in a new world of connectivity and we are proud to be at the forefront, setting a world standard for what technology can do. We are excited to be working hand in hand with Ooredoo Oman, laying the ground for technologies that will support Oman and its Vision 2040. This is only the beginning.”

An important feature of Oman’s ‘Vision 2040’, 5G has positioned the Sultanate as one of the world’s most advanced countries, with the potential to benefit everything from entertainment and education, to scientific research and healthcare.
