Ooredoo, a Qtel Group company, is about to begin what is probably the largest annual corporate social responsibility activity in the Sultanate of Oman. After months of preparation, the final logistical arrangements for the sixth Ooredoo Goodwill Journey have been completed and this caring initiative is ready to begin on Saturday, 21 August. Fasting volunteer employees will soon leave their families to travel more than 6,000 kilometres around the country, in order to distribute donations and spend time with less fortunate members of society.
For the last five years during Ramadan, Goodwill Journey convoys have travelled in excess of 29,000 kilometres to visit those attending and working at 75 different charitable organisations all over the country. Caring Ooredoo people have also visited schools and hospitals in the different wilyats and even laid out football pitches and arranged to put up buildings.
Ahead of each journey, Ooredoo takes time to understand the specific needs of each group and places orders for IT equipment, toys, furniture, vehicles or whatever is urgently required. Every detail is considered and precise planning involved ensuring that all items suit the intended purpose and safely reach the correct destination ahead of the donation date.
