The Nawras Goodwill Journey 2 took off yesterday from Salalah and made its first halt at the Women's Association in the Wilayat of Sadah where the Nawras team donated a number of essential items which included air conditioners, refrigerators, computers, and furniture.
The Nawras Goodwill Journey members also distributed a number of assorted toys to a big crowd of little children amidst chants of Nawras.
Sadah is tucked away around 130kms to the north east of Salalah and is nestled among the foothills of the coast, almost hidden. But the Nawras Goodwill Journey made it there and touched the lives of the women.
Lakhyar bint Abdullah Salem Al Mahri, the head of the Sadah Women's Association, expressed her gratitude to the Nawras team and said that this is the first time that a private company had visited their Association.
"Since the Women's Association was formed in 1996, we have not received any help from any such private organisation till now. Nawras is the first company to visit us," said Lakhayar with a sense of gratitude written all over her face.
The Nawras Goodwill Journey also made a short stop at the Al Wafa Social and Voluntary Centre for the Handicapped in Mirbat on the way to Sadah. Toys and other learning tools for the disabled were donated to the children there, who sang a welcome song to the Nawras team.
